I have a water color painting with a Japanese or Chinese signature. How do I find out who the artist is?

I bought a water color painting at an antique store. There is a signature and a stamp on the picture that is either Japanese or Chinese. Where can I post a picture of the signature and find out in English who the artist is.

Highly likely to be Chinese export – made for the European market and churned out in huge quantities. Any fine art dealer ought to be able to give you an indication.

Anyone here do / interested in paper crafts?

I like paper cutting,it’s called "jian zhi" in chinese and it is popular in china. Would like to try some other paper crafts from all around the world.and would like to share my arts too.

I’m a lover of all kinds of paper crafts. Germany has a paper cutting craft called schirrenschritte (I hope I spelled that correctly) which involves some very complicated cutting of paper to achieve extraordinary designs. There is another craft that involves cutting, rolling and curling to create shapes such as flowers, dragons and other objects that is really fun, too. You can share your crafts on Crafters Across America on HGTV they are always looking for crafters who do unusual crafts they haven’t presented before in the cities they are visiting and in which they are filming.

What is the purpose of the small porcelain bowl in a Chinese calligraphy set?

Hey, i recently ordered a calligraphy set and I know what all of the parts are for except for the small porcelain (mixing?) bowl. I mean if you only have one type of ink what do you need to mix? Please help, I really want to be able to use my kit to the fullest of its abilities but I have no clue what that small little white bowl is for . . . :P

It IS for mixing inks, such as if you want to apply a thin wash of ink instead of a solid black stroke.

Also, some calligraphy inks are sold in solid, block form that need to be mixed with water.
